Hyderabad: Even after its release on Netflix on July 11, Telugu film 8 Vasantalu is still running in theatres, especially at PVR Nexus, Kukatpally in Hyderabad. The film has completed 27 days in cinemas; a rare thing these days for a small-budget film, especially with big movies releasing every week.
8 Vasantalu, directed by Phanindra Narsetti, is an emotional story about love, loss, and life. It stars Ananthika Sanilkumar, Ravi Duggirala, Hanu Reddy, and others. The music is composed by Hesham Abdul Wahab. The film received a lot of love from viewers for its honest storytelling and soulful emotions.
After the film started streaming online, director Phaanindra shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. He said that many people messaged him saying they regret not watching the film in theatres. “Maybe you missed it because of busy schedules, fewer shows, or negative reviews. But now, after watching it on OTT, people are saying they wish they had seen it on the big screen,” he said.
The filmmaker explained that watching a movie in theatres is a different feeling. “Watching it on a phone or TV is like looking at a sunset in a mirror. Watching it in a theatre is like standing in front of the sunset and feeling it with your heart,” he wrote.
He also requested people in Hyderabad to still catch the film in theatres if possible. “Take your parents, your kids, your loved ones. Make it a memory you’ll always remember,” he said.
Phanindra also spoke about the negativity the film faced earlier. “Whenever someone supports the film or says something good, people say I paid them. But what if we showed even a little bit of that energy in spreading positivity instead of hate?” he asked.
He also thanked the theatre owner who kept playing the film. “He didn’t do it for money. Running a cinema is very tough these days. But he believed in the film.”
Despite all the challenges, 8 Vasantalu has managed to run in theatres for nearly a month. It may be a small film, but its journey is big, and it’s still winning hearts.
