Adilabad: Nearly 98 per cent of the people in Adilabad district received the first dose of vaccination and 68 per cent the second dose, according to MLA Jogu Ramanna. He was speaking at a review meeting convened with the district authorities to assess the Covid situation here on Thursday.

Ramanna urged the citizens to follow Covid protocol and requested the people aged between 18 and 65 to get vaccinated. He stated that 2,843 frontline workers were given booster doses and 82,000 would be administered second dose of the vaccination on a war footing basis.

The MLA advised the district administration mechanism to sensitise the public over the vaccination and the need to adhere to the protocol in the wake of a third wave of infections as predicted by scientists. He asked them to ensure sufficient supply of medical oxygen, availability of ventilators and special wards meant for treating those infected by the virus.

The legislator told the district authorities to take steps to ensure that everyone wears face masks. He suggested them to create awareness among the daily earners belonging to neighbouring Mahrashtra over usage of the mask and physical distance. He told the authorities of Adilabad municipality to inspect hotels to make sure staffers wear gloves.

ZP Chairperson Rathod Janardhan, who was also present at the meeting, requested the celebrators of Sankranti festival to practice physical distance.
