Jagitial: One has seen farmers in the past placing slippers in queue lines in front of fertiliser shops and primary agriculture cooperative societies to buy fertilisers.
In a rather shocking development now, people waiting for Covid-19 tests at Jaggasagar in Metpalli mandal placed Aadhaar cards in the queue to mark their place on Wednesday. Sources said a number of people had to return without undergoing the test every day since only limited Covid tests were being carried out.
Based on the availability of kits, about 100 to 130 corona tests are being carried out at Jaggasagar Primary Health Center every day. However, more than 200 people land up at the PHC for tests and return without undergoing the test due to lack of kits.
To overcome the problem, people reached the PHC as early as 7 am on Wednesday and placed their Aadhar cards in the queue line. One of them who has been trying to get the test done in the last three days said there was tension in the area with the virus spreading rapidly.
“Testing is essential for me to know whether I have been infected so that I can start the treatment. However, sufficient testing kits are not available in the PHC,” he said, and appealed to the government to increase supply of test kits.
The staff at the PHC, however, maintained that the people were not interested in taking the vaccine till recently, but were now rushing to the centre for tests following the rapid increase in positive cases. The number of test kits supplied to the PHC is based on the average number of people visiting the centre, they said.
