Warangal: Wardhannapet MLA Aruri Ramesh urged the officials of Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) to expedite the development works taken up in the villages of Wardhannapet Assembly segment that were merged with the GWMC.
Speaking at a review meeting with officials at the office of the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) here, Ramesh said internal roads, side drains and other development works must be taken up on a war footing and completed. He discussed different works including proposed works with the officials and asked them to complete pending works. “If the contractors are delaying the works, they should be blacklisted,” he said.
According to the official sources, a total of 340 development works with a total of Rs 340.14 crore were sanctioned in the 13 divisions that fall under the Wardhannapet Assembly constituency. As many as 1884 works worth Rs 179 crore have been completed so far, while Rs 56.80 worth of works are in progress. “Agreements for 82 works were completed, while 114 works at the tendering stage,” the officials said. The GWMC is yet to start 309 works causing much inconvenience to the residents of these villages. Mayor Gundu Sudharani, corporators of 13 divisions, GWMC commissioner P Pravinya, and contractors attended the meeting.
