Adilabad residents display boards against Congress, send selfies to Rahul Gandhi

Adilabad: Residents of model village Mukhra (K) in Echoda mandal staged a protest on Wednesday by displaying boards and flex posters outside their homes stating, “The Congress government cheated the public by failing to keep six poll promises.” They then sent selfies of these displays directly to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

The aggrieved residents said the government had failed to deliver on key promises, including waiving crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh, extending monthly financial aid of Rs 2,500 to women under the Mahalaxmi scheme, distributing a tola of gold to women, and creating 2 lakh jobs.

“The party had assured that these promises would be implemented within 100 days of assuming office. However, even after 18 months in power, not one of these has been fulfilled,” they lamented.

They also criticised the Congress government for not continuing welfare schemes initiated by the previous BRS government, such as KCR Kits, Nutrition Kits, Rythu Bima and Rythu Bandhu.

“Those schemes had benefited every household. The Congress duped the people by abandoning both its own poll promises and the ongoing welfare programmes,” they said.

Expressing regret over voting for the Congress, the villagers said they had now realised their mistake. “The Congress made grand but impossible promises during the elections and managed to win the public mandate. But it betrayed every section of society by not delivering. Farmers, in particular, are bearing the brunt of its utter lies,” they added.
