Adilalabad: The one-day bandh call given by Tudumdebba went off peacefully in Adilabad on Monday. The tribal rights organisation called for a rasta roko and sit-in in front of TSRTC depots demanding repeal of Government Order No 317 introducing zonal system in allocation of jobs. Traffic came to a standstill on Utnoor-Adilabad highway causing inconvenience to passengers.
Godam Ganesh, Tudumdebba district president, lamented that the government order was infringing laws and provisions mentioned in the fifth schedule of the Indian Constitution and meant for protecting the traditions and culture of tribal communities. He said that teachers were depressed over postings with the advent of the order. He stated that spouses of government jobs had many apprehensions over their postings.
Ganesh requested the government to consider the fifth schedule while issuing an order and the organisation was condemning the Order No 315 for ignoring the laws and provisions aimed at protecting the rights of ethnic tribes. He warned that a stir would be launched if the government did not withdraw the order.
Later, the leaders of the organisation submitted a representation to the Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA)-Utnoor Project Officer Ankit requesting his intervention in cancellation of the order.
Tudumdebba District vice president Kumra Shyam Rao, secretary Vetti Manoj, treasurer Marapa Bharath, student unions JAC convener B Rahul and co-convener Mesram Bhaskar, Salam Varun, Gedam Keshav, Madavi Ganesh, Chahakati Sunil, Sunil Indru, Kudimetha Prakash, Thodasam Manohar, Jangala Pochanna, Pendur Thukaram, Mesram Dinesh and Ganapathi Sujay were present.
