Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has announced a massive direct recruitment to 80,039 posts under the State Government out of which 11,626 posts are of the Group – I, II, III and IV services. The break-up of the jobs is as follows:

• GROUP II – 582
• GROUP III – 1373
• GROUP IV – 9168
The generalist services under the State Government are classified into hierarchical levels called Group I, II, III and IV. Generalist services are those posts under the Government for which the qualification will be graduation from any stream or Intermediate. The subjects in the graduation are irrelevant for appearing in this examination. All that the candidate needs to have is a graduation degree, if it is Group I, II and III services and intermediate if it is Group IV Services.
TSPSC GROUP I is a three stage examination consisting of I. Preliminary Examination – is an objective type examination consisting of a single paper titled General Studies and Mental Ability II. Mains Examination – is a descriptive examination consisting of six papers with each paper having a weightage of 150 marks III. Personality Test – is an oral interview weighing 100 marks
While the Preliminary examination is qualifying in nature, i.e., one must clear the exam to appear for mains; the final selection will be based on the marks scored in mains examination and personality test.
TSPSC GROUP II is a two stage examination consisting of
I. Written Examination – is an objective type examination consisting of the following four papers with a weightage of 150 marks per paper
Paper I – General Studies and General Abilities
Paper II – History, Polity and Society
Paper III – Economy and Development
Paper IV – Telangana Movement and formation II. Personality Test – is an oral interview weighing 60 marks
TSPSC GROUP III is a single stage objective type examination consisting of the following three papers with a weightage of 150 marks per paper
Paper I – General Studies and General Abilities
Paper II – History (including formation of Telangana), Polity and Society
Paper III – Economy and Development
TSPSC GROUP IV is a single stage examination consisting of the following two papers with a weightage of 150 marks per paper
Paper I – General Knowledge
Paper II – Secretarial Abilities
Prelims of Group I and Group II, Group III and Paper I of Group IV services have the same syllabus. However the weightage of the subject changes depending on the level of service. For Example – Formation of Telangana is allotted 150 marks in Group I and Group II whereas in Group III, it is included under History which of 50 Marks. In Group IV, the weightage of formation will be about 20 marks in Paper I.
The common areas in syllabus for all the four services are:
1. Current affairs – The syllabus does not specify any specifications such as national or international. Therefore candidates must focus on national and state current affairs. A thorough reading of the last six months current affairs before the exam is essential.
2. General Science in everyday life – SSC textbooks of Science subject from classes VI to X must be referred for this segment. Focus must be more on application based questions.
3. Environmental Issues and Disaster Management – Environment divided into two categories – concepts and environmental conventions. ICSE textbooks on environmental sciences from class VII to class X will give good details about the concepts in environment. NCERT textbooks of class 8, 9 and 10 can be referred for disaster management.
4. Geography and Economy of India and Telangana – For Indian Geography, a standard atlas like Blackswan Atlas and NCERT textbooks from classes 7 to 10 must be referred. The SSC Social Studies textbooks (from classes 6 to 10) and the 2021-22 Economic Survey report will be useful for Telangana Geography and Economy. Basics of Indian economy can be read from NCERT Class 9 to 12 textbooks.
5. Indian Polity: Any standard Indian Polity textbook like Indian Polity by Laxmikanth can be referred. However candidates are advised to strictly refer those topics which are mentioned.
6. Indian History with a focus on Indian National Movement – NCERT old editions on ancient, medieval and modern Indian History must be referred.
7. History of Telangana and Telangana Movement – an overview of these two segments given in Telugu Akademi textbooks must be referred. Formation of Telangana by V Prakash is a must for Group I and Group II.
8. Society, Culture, Heritage, Arts and Literature of Telangana – These topics are a part of Telangana history and can be found in Telugu Akademi textbooks.
9. Policies of Telangana State – All policies launched by the Government of Telangana from 2nd June 2014 must be covered. These policies are detailed in the Socio-Economic Survey of Telangana.
