Hyderabad: Students wishing to join various courses in the IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) will have to brace for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2021, which is scheduled to be held on October 3.
The IIT Kharagpur, which is organising the JEE, has recently released a detailed information brochure. The JEE is a computer based test consisting of two compulsory papers i.e. paper-I and II. The exam will be held from 9 am to 12 noon (paper-I) and 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm (paper-II).
Each paper comprises three separate sections, viz., physics, chemistry and mathematics and are designed to test comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of the candidates.
Negative marks will be awarded for incorrect answers for some questions and a detailed marking scheme will be provided to the candidates in the ‘instruction to candidates’ section at the time of the examination.
Candidates who are among the top 2.50 lakh scorers in the BE/BTech paper of JEE Main 2021 are only eligible to apply for the JEE Advanced. Based on the performance of the candidates in the entrance test, the admissions will be given into bachelors, integrated masters and dual degree programmes.
According to the IIT Kharagpur, as per earlier directions of the Ministry of Education, supernumerary seats were created for female candidates for improving gender balance in the undergraduate programmes in the IITs. These seats will be offered only to female candidates who are declared qualified and based on the performance in the JEE Advanced 2021.
The number of such supernumerary seats in various programmes will be decided by the individual IITs ensuring each institute has at least 20 per cent female enrollments in undergraduate programmes.
Online registrations through the website — https://jeeadv.ac.in — will commence from 10 am on September 11 and conclude at 5 pm on September 16, while the last date for fee payment by registered candidates is 5 pm on September 17. Candidates who successfully registered for the JEE Advanced can download their admit cards online from September 25 to October 3.
