All you need to know about Valentine’s Day

Interestingly, in India, people also celebrate days preceding Valentine's Day by associating each day to a specific romantic gesture.

Hyderabad: February is a month when couples paint the town red as Valentine’s Day is observed on 14 of this month globally.

Interestingly, in India, people also celebrate days preceding Valentine’s Day by associating each day to a specific romantic gesture. Starting on February 7, each day is celebrated uniquely leading up to the main day when the couples celebrate their love for each other.


The following are the days celebrated in February before Valentine’s Day

Rose Day – February 7 – Couples exchange roses and express their love for each other

Propose Day – February 8 – Couples confess their love for each other. Few couples also propose for marriages on this day

Chocolate Day – February 9 – Known as a symbol of love, Chocolates are exchanged between couples on this day

Teddy Day – February 10 – Teddy Bears are given to partners as a gift

Promise Day – February 11 – Couples make promises to each other

Hug Day – February 12 – Couples hug each other expressing their love and affection

Kiss Day – February 13 – Couples exchange kisses expressing their love for one another

Valentine’s Day – February 14 – The main day dedicated for couples to celebrate their love and union. Couples usually spend time together rejoicing their love for each other.

Why is Valentine’s Day Celebrated?

Valentine’s Day is a day dedicated for couples to celebrate their love. On this day, people usually take some time out from their busy schedules to spend some romantic time with their partners. Valentine’s Day is celebrated globally on February 14 every year.

However, the origin of this day remains mysterious as some people believe it to be an ancient Roman tradition while some others claim that the day is remembered after St.Valentine who was executed on February 14.
