Ambedkar an inspiration to world: Indrakaran

Adilabad: Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said that Dr BR Ambedkar remains a source of inspiration to the world as the ‘Architect of the Indian Constitution.

Speaking after paying floral tributes to the Ambedkar statue on his 65th death anniversary in Nirmal on Monday, Indrakaran Reddy recalled the contribution of Ambedkar to the country. He said that Babasaheb had laid the foundation for the democratic system by heading the drafting committee to build the Constitution. He opined that the ‘Architect of the Constitution’ had strived for the inclusion of weaker sections to the path of development by introducing reservations.

The Minister further said that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was implementing a slew of welfare schemes to realise the ideals of Ambedkar. He cited 3-acre cultivable land to landless Dalits and many other initiatives of the State government aimed at the growth of the weaker sections. He stated that Dalit Bandhu scheme of TRS government was introduced by drawing inspiration from Babasaheb Ambedkar.

Meanwhile, Collector Sikta Patnaik paid tributes to Ambedkar at a programme held in Adilabad. Mancherial Collector Bharati Hollikeri, Kumram Bheem Asifabad Collector Rahul Raj and their counterpart of Nirmal district Musharraf Ali Faruqui offered homage to Ambedkar in their respective district headquarters. They recalled his contributions to the country, on the occasion.

Employee unions, student bodies and Dalit rights organisations paid rich tributes to the visionary leader across the erstwhile Adilabad district. They hailed him for playing a vital role in the uplift of Dalits and marginalised communities. They said that the weaker sections were able to get better educational opportunities and jobs with the help of reservations to SCs and STs introduced by him.
