Adilabad: Internal bickering among Congress leaders came to the fore during a Political Affairs Meeting (PAC) of the party held at a function hall in Utnoor mandal centre on Monday. AICC secretary Sachin Savanth, in-charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao and former minister Indrakaran Reddy were present at the meeting.
Kandi Srinivas Reddy, a key Congress leader and nominee of the party from Adilabad Assembly constituency, raised an objection to the participation of Sanjeeva Reddy in the meeting. He asked the party leaders how Sanjeeva Reddy was allowed to attend the event. He reasoned that Reddy, who was not a member of the committee, was ineligible to be invited to the meeting.
Srinivas Reddy further said that Sanjeeva Reddy had quit the party during the recent Assembly elections. Sanjeeva Reddy stated that he was invited to the meeting by the top leadership of the party. Followers of both Srinivas Reddy and Sanjeeva Reddy raised slogans in support of their leaders, resulting in a commotion. Sanjeeva Reddy left the event after being requested to do so by Krishna Rao.
Speaking to media persons, Sanjeeva Reddy claimed that he had been associated with the Congress for quite a long time. He stated that he was a genuine activist of the party. He said that Srinivas Reddy was an inaccessible leader. He declared that he would contest from the Adilabad Assembly segment in the coming polls. He was confident of getting the Congress ticket.
While Srinivas Reddy had contested on the Congress ticket in the 2023 Assembly elections, Sanjeeva Reddy, an aspirant, raised a banner of revolt against him. Since then, both of them have been at loggerheads. Sanjeeva Reddy had operated a faction by forming a group opposing Srinivas Reddy’s candidature. Srinivas Reddy stood in third position by polling 47,724 votes.
