Jagtial: Unknown persons defiled the statue of Ambedkar with a garland of footwear at Nagunur in Sarangapur mandal on Friday.

Expressing anger for humiliating Ambedkar, Dalit leaders asked the police to take serious action against the accused.

In this regard, members of dalit organisations gave representation to Jagtial DSP Raghuchander.

Later, they performed palabishekam to the Ambedkar statue after cleaning it with water. Police took three suspected persons into custody and are questioning, it is learnt.
