MLA Athram Sakku giving sewing machines to tribal women at Ginndedhari village in Tiryani mandal on Sunday.
Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Asifabad MLA Athram Sakku and Collector Rahul Raj handed over sewing machines to 36 tribal women at a programme held at Ginndedhari village in Tiryani mandal on Sunday. The machines were sponsored by an Andhra Pradesh-based voluntary organisation, Vasudha, following a request from Tiryani police.
Speaking on the occasion, Sakku opined that policemen of the district were setting an example to others in serving the community. He stated that it was a laudable effort of Tiryani police to organise novel initiatives and to create a livelihood for tribals dwelling in remote parts. He advised the women to excel in the profession with the help of machines and training.
Collector Rahul Raj said that the country’s growth depends on development of rural parts. He observed that the gesture would help the tribal women to achieve self-empowerment. He was all praise for Tiryani Sub-Inspector P Rama Rao, his team and members of Vasudha for coming forward to provide the 100-day long training and machines as well.
Madavi Mangavathi, a resident of Gudipet and Valka Manasa from Ginnedhari said the gesture extended by Tiryani police and the voluntary organisation brought relief for the tribal families which were hit by the lockdown. They shared that they could generate some income through tailoring, helping their breadwinners in running their families. They thanked the police and members of Vasudha for lending a helping hand to them.
Earlier, the legislator and Collector were accorded by tribals a grand welcome for arriving in the village. They were taken to the village in a procession. Tribal artists danced to drum beats, trumpets and traditional musical instruments. Women received the guests with harati and drawing tilakam on their foreheads.
Asifabad DSP Acheswar Rao, Rebbena Inspector Satheesh, Tiryani Sub-Inspector P Rama Rao, Tiryani Mandal Parishad President M Sridevi, ZPTC member Athram Chandrasekhar, Tahsildar Erla Mallikharjun, Vasudha president Umamaheshwari and elder of Ginnedhari Govardhan were present.
