Yadadri-Bhongir: The 11-day annual brahmotsavams of Sri Yadadri Sri Lakshminarsimha Swamy began on Monday amid rituals performed by the temple priests.
The brahmotsavams began at Balalayam with Vishwaksena pooja and Swasthi Vachan chanted by vedic pandits. The temple priests also performed Rakshabandhan at the Balalayam.
Since the brahmotsavams are being held at Balalayam even as development works were going on at the main temple, the temple priests performed pooja to Swayambhu Sri Lakshminarsimha Swamy in the main temple and sought his permission for the conduct of annual fete at Balalayam as per tradition.
Temple Executive Officer N Geetha also participated in the Rakshabandhan. The brahmotsavams will continue till March 25.
Thiru Kalyanotsavam, the celestial marriage of Lord Narsimha Swamy and his consort Sri Lakshmi, will be performed on March 22. Dwajarohanam, a ritual inviting the Gods for the brahmotsavams, would be performed at 11 am on March 16. Sri Lakshminarsimha Swamy will appear to devotees in the attire of Masthya avatar on March 17 and in the attire of Sri Krishna on March 18. Ponna Vahana Seva will be taken out at Yadadri at 9 pm on March 19 and Simha Vahana Seva will be conducted on March 20. Sri Vari Edurkolu programme would be conducted by the temple priests at Balalayam on March 21. The celestial wedding of Sri Lakhsminarsimha Swamy would be conducted in Balalayam at 10 am on March 22 and only limited number of devotees would be allowed for it. The celestial wedding, however, would also be conducted in ZP High School Ground in the foothills at 7.30 pm on March 22 to facilitate thousands of devotees to watch the auspicious fete.
Rathotsavam would be conducted at 7.30 pm on March 23 at Balalayam. Purnahuthi and Chandratheertham would be performed at 10.30 am on March 24 at Balalayam. The annual brahmotsavams would conclude on March 25 with conduct of Astothara Shathaghatabhisekham.
Speaking to the media, Geetha said the poojas of Nitya Kalyanam and Sudarshana Narasimha Yagam have been cancelled during the 11-days of annual brahmotsavams. All the required arrangements have been made at Yadadri keeping in mind the increase in the rush of devotees to the temple during brahmotsavams and steps were taken to ensure that devotees do not face any inconvenience.
