Mancherial: Appointment of mandal Congress president posts triggered internal bickering among leaders of the Congress party’s Bellampally Assembly constituency unit.
Presidents for seven mandals were appointed by the Congress party recently. However, senior leaders expressed displeasure over the selection of the chiefs. They alleged that seniors and long-standing activists were ignored, while newly joined persons were given importance in the appointment of mandal Congress presidents. It is nothing short of injustice to us, they pointed out.
Some disappointed leaders from Kasipet mandal resigned from the Congress party, protesting against the stance of Bellampalli MLA G Vinod, who was reportedly instrumental in choosing the presidents. They regretted that they had been serving the party for a long time while facing cases. However, their contributions to the party were not recognised, they said, alleging that new entrants were made presidents.
In an attempt to control the damage, Vinod is learnt to have withheld the appointments of the presidents for Thandur and Kasipet mandals. Durgam Rajaiah was appointed president of Bellampalli Rural mandal, while P Shankar and M Komuraiah were picked as presidents of Thandur and Bheemini mandals respectively.
Elpula Mallesh, G Madhu, Panala Mahesh and Bandi Prabhakar were appointed presidents of Kannepalli, Vemanapalli, Kasipet and Bellampalli town respectively, as per an order issued by TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud.
