Hyderabad: Facing severe backlash from different sections for his foul language towards BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, turncoat MLA from Serilingampally Arekapudi Gandhi changed his tone and tenor on Friday and maintained that he respected BRS Chief K Chandrashekhar Rao immensely.
In the last 10 years, the BRS chief had infused discipline among all the leaders and ensured there were no cheap remarks or use of foul language. He instructed the party leaders to maintain brotherhood between the two regions and warned that there should not be any regional differences, the Serilingampally MLA said. Addressing media persons at his residence, he admitted that he used foul language and said it was not a war of words between him and the BRS party.
“I was instigated repeatedly and I had to retaliate. There will be criticism and war of words between political parties, but personal targeting and abusing will not be tolerated. How long should I maintain calm over a cheater and broker’s abuses,” Arekapudi Gandhi asked. The Serilingampally MLA said he had gone to the BRS MLA’s house on Thursday only after he extended an invitation assuring traditional welcome.
“In turn, the BRS MLA ensured that there was police bandobust and hurled stones at me and my followers”, he claimed. “Police had detained him only for six hours. Whom did the police support” he asked. Later again in the afternoon, the Serilingampally legislator further said that despite the ruckus, an invitation was extended to the BRS MLA to visit his house on Friday but he had not turned up.
“Had Kaushik Reddy arrived, we would have had a debate in the presence of media. All the misconceptions would have got cleared and would have gone to the place (Telangana Bhavan) where he wanted to take me,” Arekapudi Gandhi said.
He also found fault with Padi Kaushik Reddy for his abusive language and instigating comments. A junior MLA used abusive language towards a senior MLA. He challenged that he would come to my house and offer party scarf but in what capacity, did party offer Kaushik Reddy any post, he asked.
“Kaushik Reddy’s language is disrespectful towards women and humiliating. He should change your attitude and work with discipline,” Arekapudi Gandhi suggested.
