Arrangements in place for Saddula Bathukamma in erstwhile Karimnagar

Officials of municipal corporations, municipalities and gram panchayats made special arrangements for Saddula Bathukamma, the last day of the nine-day Bathukamma festival of Telangana

Karimnagar: Elaborate have been made for Saddula Bathukamma celebrations scheduled to be held in the erstwhile Karimnagar district on Thursday.

Officials of municipal corporations, municipalities and gram panchayats made special arrangements for Saddula Bathukamma, the last day of the nine-day Bathukamma festival of Telangana.

Besides cleaning the grounds, power supply, lighting, drinking water, generators and other arrangements were also made at playing spots.

As the women immerse the idol made out of flowers into water bodies after ceremoniously celebrating Bathukamma, the authorities have deployed professional swimmers at Bathukamma immersion points to avert any untoward incidents.

Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar (MCK) authorities made all facilities in all playing grounds in 60 divisions of the town as well as 20 Bathukamma immersion points by spending Rs 2.20 crores. Professional swimmers were also deployed at every immersion point.

Local MLA Gangula Kamalakar along with Mayor Y Sunil Rao visited the Bathukamma immersion point at Lower Manair Dam.

On the other hand, flower markets are crowded with people thronged the markets to purchase Gunugu, Thangedu, Sitamma Jada, Gummadi, Banthi, Chamanthi among other flowers to prepare Bathukamma.
