Audi-Auto mishap: Three arrested in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Madhapur Police have arrested three persons allegedly involved in the road accident that resulted in the death of a pub employee two days ago.
The arrested persons were Raghunandhan Reddy, who runs a school in Uppal, his son Sujith Reddy, a civil engineer, and Ashish, a software firm employee.
The incident took place early on Sunday when the speeding Audi car rammed an Uber auto at IKEA circle. Umesh Kumar, an employee with Prism Pub at Gachibowli, who was traveling in the auto, was thrown off the auto onto the pavement and died on the spot, while the auto driver was injured.
The police had seized the vehicle the same day and after analyzing footage from CCTV cameras. identified the persons.
“Sujith Reddy and Ashish had attended a party at a guest house near Ramky Towers. In the early hours of Sunday, they left the guest house and on the way rammed the auto . The Audi car was driven at very high speed,” said Ravinder Prasad, SHO (Madhapur), adding that soon after the accident, the two abandoned the car and fled the spot.
“Raghunandhan Reddy brought his driver to the police station claiming that the driver was driving during the accident. On questioning, the driver admitted that he was influenced by Raghunandan Reddy to admit the crime in return for monetary favours,” Prasad said, adding that Reddy was also arraigned as a suspect in the case for trying to misguide the police.
The police found liquor bottles in the car when the vehicle was seized. A case under Sections 304 (II), 201 and 506 of Indian Penal Code was registered and all the three persons were arrested and produced before court.
The Cyberabad police had released the footage of the accident to the public on Tuesday morning to spread awareness on consequences of drunk driving.
