The Ministry of AYUSH has found Kabasura Kudineer and AYUSH-64 formulations to be useful as an add-on or adjunct to the standard care of treatment.
Hyderabad: In a ray of hope for Covid positive patients looking for affordable traditional Indian medications for treatment, the Ministry of AYUSH has found Kabasura Kudineer and AYUSH-64 formulations to be useful as an add-on or adjunct to the standard care of treatment for asymptomatic, mild, and moderate Covid positive patients.
Kabasura Kudineer tablets are herbal preparation while AYUSH-64 is a poly-herbal formulation developed by the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), Ministry of AYUSH. Recently, the Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) under the Ministry of AYUSH and another group of researchers from Narayana Hrudayalaya, Bengaluru had conducted clinical trials on Kabasura Kudineer and found its efficacy in treating Covid-19 among mild and asymptomatic Covid patients.
The researchers from Narayana Hrudayalaya in their study, which is available in its preprint form in MedRxiv, said that “The use of Kabasura Kudineer interventions as add-on therapy did not negatively impact the clinical outcomes in Covid-19. The trial confirmed safety and tolerability of Kabasura Kudineer tablets, Shakti drops and Turmeric plus tablets when used use among mild to moderate symptom category, of Covid-19”.
On its part, the Ministry of AYUSH had requested States to popularise Kabasura Kudineer and AYUSH-64 and make them available for free of cost at isolation facilities, Covid Care Centres, Covid health centers, AYUSH dispensaries, and among patients who in home isolation.
