BAC meeting: Harish Rao insists for debate on ’20 percent commission’ issue

Hyderabad: The BRS insisted on a thorough discussion in the State Legislative Assembly during the budget session on the 20 percent commission being demanded for clearing the bills alleged by the contractors.
Speaking to media persons after the BAC meeting held in the Speaker’s chambers, BRS MLA T Harish Rao emphasized that the House should run for at least 20 days as part of the budget session for a comprehensive discussion on the demands of various departments. Members at the meeting raised concerns about the Assembly business being leaked in advance, similar to question papers. The issue of the Chief Minister personally bulldozing the Speaker to deny the Opposition a chance to speak was also brought up in the BAC.
The BAC requested that the BRS be given time in the Assembly based on their numerical strength, and this request was accepted. Discussions on farmer issues, drinking water, and irrigation water problems were also demanded. The BAC insisted on discussing the collapse of various projects, including the Sunkishala, Pedda Vagu, Vattem Pump House submergence, and SLBC accident in the Assembly.
Ministers were urged to come prepared to the Assembly. The BAC requested the Speaker to take the initiative in securing funds for the development of Assembly constituencies. The failure of the State government in utilizing Krishna river waters was highlighted in the BAC, along with the issue of AP diverting water while the State government remained a spectator.
The BRS also demanded a discussion in the Assembly on the issue of 20% commission being insisted for bill payments. The non-implementation of six guarantees was also raised at the meeting. Discussion on the free LRS promise made by the State government was also raised.
The BRS has sought a discussion on the deliberate negligence of the collapsed pillar in the Kaleshwaram project, and immediate restoration work was demanded. The BAC insisted on discussing unemployment benefits and the job calendar in the Assembly. The issue of bills for former sarpanches and small contractors was also brought up for discussion in the Assembly.
