Narsapur: JNTU-Hyderabad Vice-Chancellor T Kishen Kumar Reddy observed that programmes such as mBaja (Mechanical Baja) of SAE India help engineering students gain hands-on experience, especially in a rapidly changing landscape influenced by artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

After inaugurating the mBaja event at BV Raju Institute of Technology, Narsapur (BVRIT) on Wednesday, Prof Kishen Reddy said students would gain significant exposure from such events, irrespective of whether they win prizes. Stating that over 70 per cent of Telugu students opt for CSE and IT-related courses, the Vice-Chancellor expressed hope that organising events such as mBaja would encourage students to pursue core engineering courses. Citing V Kamakoti’s recent statement, he said core engineering courses, in which half the seats are currently lying vacant in the Telugu States, would gain importance in the AI era.

Students from over 51 prominent engineering institutions across the country have arrived on the campus to display the all-terrain vehicles they manufactured during the 19th edition of Baja SAE India 2026. The programme will continue until March 3.

Chairman, Organising Committee, Baja SAE India, Balraj Subramaniam and Secretary, Shri Vishnu Educational Society, Aditya Vissam also spoke.
