Jagtial: Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar lashed out at the State government for indulging in vote-bank politics by aligning with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
He took strong objection to a social media post by HYDRAA Commissioner Ranganath, who reportedly stated that authorities would not act against a college owned by the Owaisi family. “Was it the officer’s own decision or a direction from the State government?” he asked.
Alleging that the Owaisi family had constructed the college illegally by encroaching on Salkam tank in the Old City, he questioned the selective approach of the authorities. “HYDRAA is quick to demolish the houses of the poor under the pretext of illegal constructions. Did they give exemption to the Owaisi family, which built colleges and commercial buildings by occupying tanks and ponds?” he said.
Responding to HYDRAA’s justification that nearly 10,000 students study at the college, Sanjay Kumar asked why the same consideration was not extended to the poor when their homes were demolished in the Musi catchment area. “Where was this humanity then?” he asked.
Sanjay Kumar made these remarks during an interaction with the media in Medipally mandal after participating in programmes across Jagtial district on Monday.
