Banjara Hills Police register case over bomb threat letter sent to Namasthe Telangana
Banjara Hills Police have registered a criminal intimidation case after Namasthe Telangana received an anonymous letter containing bomb and death threats targeting media organisations, journalists and their families. Authorities are investigating the letter's origin, while no evidence has yet been found to support its claims.
Hyderabad: The Banjara Hills police have registered a criminal case after Namasthe Telangana newspaper received an anonymous letter containing bomb threats and death threats targeting media organisations, journalists, YouTubers and their families.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complaint was lodged by Satukuri Madhusuda, HR Manager of Telangana Publications Pvt. Ltd., which publishes Namasthe Telangana.
He informed the police that the organisation received the anonymous letter by post on June 23, 2026, bearing the phrase ‘Jai Revanthanna Jai Congress.’
The complainant stated that the letter threatened journalists, media owners and management over reports related to alleged land encroachments and criticism of the Telangana government.
It further claimed that a group had hired terrorists belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and planted bombs in the offices of news channels, e-paper organisations and YouTubers, threatening to detonate them simultaneously.
The letter also contained abusive language and extended threats to the family members of media personnel, raising concerns over public safety and national security.
Following directions from the III Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Nampally, Banjara Hills Police registered a case of criminal intimidation under Section 351(4) of the BNS and took up investigation.
The police are now probing the origin of the anonymous letter and verifying the bomb threat claims.
Officials have not confirmed any evidence so far to substantiate the claims made in the letter.
