Suryapet: Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gujja Deepika Yogender on Tuesday underlined the need to ensure that fruits of welfare schemes and development programmes reach every person in the State. Speaking at a standing committee meeting of Zilla Parishad, she said that the State government had taken up several welfare schemes for the benefit of all sections of society. Elected representatives and officials have a crucial role to play to see that the benefits of the schemes reach all eligible people. She underlined the need to involve the people in the development process at the field level.

Stating that top priority should be accorded to sanitation and cleanliness in rural areas, she said there was a need to create a healthy atmosphere in villages. Special focus should be laid on survival of saplings planted under Haritha Haram and also for development of Palle Prakruthi Vanams. She made it clear that an officer from each department must attend the general body and standing committee meetings of Zilla Parishad.

District Rural Development Officer Kiran Kumar said persons aged 57 years as on August 31 would become eligible for old age pension. Measures would be taken up to sanction pension to all applicants, he added.

ZPTC member of Nereducherla Rapolu Narsaiah brought to the notice of the standing committee that the officials were mentioning Covid deaths as ‘natural death’ in death certificates. He urged the officials to mention it as ‘Covid death’ instead of ‘natural death’.

District Medical and Health Officer K Harsha Vardhan said instructions would be issued to the officials concerned to mention it as Covid death in the death certificates of corona victims. This correction would also be made in already issued certificates, he added.
