Kothagudem: Bhadrachalam town police have arrested Sripathi Srinivas, the owner of an under construction building that collapsed last Wednesday in the town and he was sent to 14-day judicial remand by the local court.
It might be recalled that two workers Ch Kameshwar Rao and Padisala Upender of the town died in the building collapse. Sripathi was accused of constructing the building without a valid permission from authorities and he continued the construction despite notices from local gram panchayat officials.
Police booked a case under Section 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of BNS against Sripathi (Shaik Moulana) and Srinivas Swathi holding them responsible for the death of the workers.
Sripathi took up the construction by collecting donations from the public on the foundations of a 30 year old structure that was converted into a temple some time back. Rescue teams had to work day and night for three days to save the trapped workers, but in vain.
