BITS Pilani and University at Buffalo announce partnership

Under the agreement, BITS Pilani and UB will jointly create graduate programs enabling students to complete part of their coursework and research at BITS Pilani and the rest at UB. The partnership also includes faculty exchanges, collaborative research, and provisions for intellectual property, confidentiality, and other legal terms to ensure transparency and fairness.

Hyderabad: The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani and the University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York, on Friday formalized a partnership aimed at advancing graduate education and research in key emerging fields, including AI, energy storage, semiconductor quantum science, and materials chemistry.

The collaboration seeks to address global technological challenges and foster innovation in imaging, sensing, and communication technologies.

As per the agreement, BITS Pilani and UB will jointly develop graduate programmes that allow students to complete part of their coursework and research at BITS Pilani and the remainder at UB. It also provides opportunities for faculty exchanges and collaborative research projects. The partnership will further include provisions for intellectual property rights, confidentiality, and other legal terms to ensure fairness and clarity.

BITS Pilani Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ramgopal Rao said through the collaboration, the Institute aims to advance research in cutting-edge technologies and provide students with world-class academic opportunities.

UB Academic Affairs president Prof. Scott Weber said the partnership offers an opportunity for both institutions to advance critical technologies and create a global platform for academic and research-driven growth.
