Hyderabad: Accusing Sirpur Forest Division officials of using third degree against seven tribals on the suspicion of being involved in poaching of wild boar, Sirpur Kagaznagar BJP MLA Harish Babu demanded the State government to immediately take action against the officials involved in the torture.

He warned that if the government failed to take action against the forest officials involved in the incident by November 4, he would launch agitation against the officials at the Sirpur Kagaznagar division office.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Harish Babu said on October 28, the forest officials detained seven tribals from the Kagaznagar area on the charges of poaching wild boar. The forest officials instead of registering cases against them used third degree resulting in severe injuries. “We don’t mind booking cases against the tribals. But how can you use third degree against them? “he asked.

Stating that though senior forest officials do not take serious action against wild boar getting killed due to electric fencing as they know that the farmers put them to save their crops, the Sirpur forest staff were harassing and torturing tribals. He said that he had brought the issue to the notice of Forest and Environment Minister Konda Surekha and Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (PCCF) RM Dobriyal and urged them to take action against the erring officials.
