Hyderabad: In what appears to be a dig at some of his party colleagues, All India Congress Committee (AICC) secretary A Sampath Kumar on Sunday said he would much rather wage a war to get the rightful water share under Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme (RDS) instead of resorting to padayatras and deekshas.

In the same breath, the AICC secretary also clarified that he had no differences with Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy. “In fact, I am going to meet him at his residence,” he said, addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday.

The former MLA said the Andhra Pradesh government was constructing a parallel canal at Rajolibanda village in Kurnool district to the existing RDS project to draw additional water. “All these works have been taken up without any permission or any information,” he charged.

“Though Telangana State is supposed to get 16 tmc ft of water through RDS, it has not been getting its rightful share. Due to the negligent attitude of the State government, Alampur constituency’s future is bleak,” Sampath Kumar said, and demanded of the State government to initiate measures and ensure that the AP government immediately suspends these works. “If not, the people of Alampur constituency will wage a war,” he cautioned.
