Hyderabad: The City Police on Wednesday cracked the murder case of a realtor at Trimulgherry on Monday with the arrest of his cousin who allegedly shot him dead with a countrymade pistol. The police seized two countrymade fire arms, three live rounds and Rs.7.20 lakh from him.
The arrested person, Thota Narender Reddy, 44, a resident of Vasavi Nagar in Alwal, had issues with his cousin, Thota Vijay Bhaskar Reddy, over the sale of a few plots. City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar, who said both the cousins were into real estate business, said there were differences between the two over the last few months. Narender Reddy felt Bhaskar Reddy was not cooperating with him resulting in losses for him, the Commissioner said.
On Monday, the suspect told Bhaskar Reddy that they had to get the registration of a plot done and started in a car from Alwal. On the way, Narender Reddy asked his cousin to park the car at the open grounds near RTC Colony in Trimulgherry, saying the client would come there to show the documents and take cash.
“Believing him, Bhaskar Reddy parked the car and was sitting in the front seat checking his phone, when Narender Reddy took out the countrymade pistol and fired from behind at Bhaskar Reddy’s head. The victim died on the spot while Narender Reddy fled the area,” Anjani Kumar said, adding that local residents found the body in the car a few hours later and alerted the police.
Preliminary investigation hinted at differences between the cousins, following which Narender Reddy was detained for questioning. He confessed to the murder and told the police that the countrymade weapons were purchased from a native of Madhya Pradesh. Reddy was involved in another criminal case registered by the Alwal police, also pertaining to a property dispute, the Commissioner added.
