Hyderabad: With the emergence of new security challenges, the boundaries of modern day battlefield have increasingly moved into the dimensions of virtual, cyber and information warfare, and space is the new frontier and technology is embedded in every weapon system and platform, said MCEME Commandant and Colonel Commandant of Corps of EME, LT Gen TSA Narayanan.
Addressing 30 Gentlemen Cadets of Technical Entry Scheme course who were commissioned as officers in the Army and passed out from the portals of Cadets Training Wing (CTW), MCEME here on Saturday, Lt Gen Narayanan said he believed the CTW had imbibed qualities of an ideal officer in them while transforming them from boys to techno warriors and military leaders of character.
Citing the example of Nagorno-Karabakh war between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the Turkish drone attack in Idlib which gave a glimpse of disruptive technologies in use today, he said, “It is critical that military leaders understand and exploit technologies such as AI, IoT, Swarm Tech, Cloud Technologies, advanced robotics, blockchain, quantum computing and others to be used a force multipliers to further their operational objectives.” This would require them to bring in new ideas and solutions and remain abreast with developments in these fields, he said.
Lt Gen Narayanan told the cadets that training and learning must never cease for them. “Indian army is equipped with a plethora of sophisticated and state-of-the art weapon systems and platforms, which need technologically savvy and intelligent officers. As TES officers, they will be expected to blend tactics and technology so as to exploit equipment capabilities to the fullest,” he said.
It was a memorable occasion at the passing out parade ceremony organised at Carriappa Drill Square for the Gentlemen Cadets who were pipped as commissioned officers in the rank of Lieutenant by senior military officers.
Platoon cadet Captain R Rishab Shankar was awarded Sword of Honour for standing first in the overall order of merit, while Shivaji Platoon was awarded coveted, GOC-in-C, ARTRAC Banner for winning the inter Platoon Championship for Autumn Term-2020.
