Brace for 40 degrees in Hyderabad, as summer intensifies causing surge in mercury

Telangana is witnessing a steady rise in temperatures after thunderstorm activity subsided across the State. Northern districts recorded temperatures between 42 and 44 degrees Celsius, while Hyderabad touched 39.4 degrees Celsius, with the IMD forecasting further heat surge and continued dry weather conditions

Hyderabad: With thunderstorm activity across all parts of Telangana abating, the maximum temperatures have started to surge steadily in the last 24-hours. The maximum temperatures in the northern districts of Telangana, between 8.30 am, Tuesday and 8.30 am Wednesday, ranged from 42 degree Celsius to 44 degree Celsius while Hyderabad recorded a maximum of 39.4 degree Celsius.

The outlook for Wednesday across Telangana is also not that encouraging, as the mercury is being projected to surge across all the districts.  The maximum temperature in Hyderabad is expected to touch 40 degrees Celsius while it will range between 41 and 44 degrees Celsius across the other districts, IMD, Hyderabad forecast on Wednesday said.

The northern regions of Telangana have continued to witness rising heat. Adilabad recorded the highest maximum temperature in Telangana at 43.3 degrees Celsius followed by Nizamabad, which saw the mercury touch 42.7 degrees Celsius.

The gradual rise is evident across multiple monitoring stations, with most districts reporting dry conditions and zero rainfall in the last 24 hours. The maximum temperatures recorded (in degrees Celsius) across various districts include Nalgonda (40.5), Mahabubnagar and Hakimpet: (40.4), Ramagundam 40.1), Medak (40) and Hyderabad recorded a maximum temperature of 39.4 degrees Celsius.
