Brahmin organisations seek expansion of Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam scheme to all temples

Hyderabad: Representatives of various Brahmin organisations met IT Minister D Sridhar Babu and submitted a memorandum outlining several demands, including extending the “Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam” scheme to all temples with enhanced funding.
Under the leadership of Basavaraju Srinivas, Chief Coordinator of Brahmin Organisations for Social Service (BOSS), a delegation met the Minister at the Assembly premises here on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the organisations sought the appointment of a Chairman and members to the Telangana Brahmin Welfare Parishad with adequate allocation of funds.
They also demanded representation for Brahmins in temple governing bodies, protection of temple properties, regularisation of services of temple priests, allocation of houses for priests and economically weaker Brahmins under the Indiramma housing scheme, introduction of a pension scheme for retired priests with extension of benefits to those already retired, and establishment of a Brahmin Credit Society with adequate funding.
Responding to the demands, Minister D Sridhar Babu assured the delegation that their representations would be taken up with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
