Mancherial: The seven-day long annual celestial wedding ceremonies or Brahmotsavams of Sri Satyanarayana Swamy with goddess Rama Devi got off to a colorful start at the famed hillock temple, Sri Satyanarayana Swamy Devasthanam, began on a religious fervor and gaiety in Gudem village of Dandepalli mandal on Thursday.
The temple executive Sankatala Srinivas said that the wedding ceremonies commenced . Elaborate arrangements were made for smooth conduct of the event. Basic amenities such as shades, queue lines, parking lots and first-aid centres were created, besides stepping up security of the temple.
The Officials said that Nithyavidhi, Vishwakshenaradhana, Deeksha Kankanadharana and special Bajans were held on the first day of the ceremony. The main event of the ceremonies, celestial wedding of the presiding deity of the shrine with Sri Rama Devi would be conducted on February 9, while Mahapournami Jatara was going to be celebrated on February 12.
According to the officials of the shrine, special homams would be performed from February 10 and 12. Rathotsavam or procession of the deities in a chariot will be organized on February 13, marking the culmination of the ceremonies.
Around 2 lakh devotees from not only different places of erstwhile Adilabad the district, but neighboring Jatial, Karimnagar, and Hyderabad are expected to congregate at the temple.
Regarded as Annavaram of Telangana, the abode of Sri Satyanarayana Swamy is situated on the banks of Godavari. It is thronged by pilgrims belonging to several parts of Telangana, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
Couples visit the temple and perform Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham to thank the deity for fulfilling their desires and seeking the wellbeing of their family members.
