Hyderabad: Relatives of a 40-year-old construction worker, Gunji Srinu, a resident of Dhenuvakonda, Addanki, Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh, who was declared brain dead, donated his organs to needy patients under the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

On July 17, Gunji Srinu was travelling on his two-wheeler when it suddenly skidded, causing him to fall on the road near AIIMS, Bibinagar, Ghatkesar. In the accident, he sustained severe head injuries.

His family members immediately shifted him to a private hospital in Hyderabad for emergency treatment. Despite three days of treatment in the ICU, his condition did not improve and, on Monday, July 20, doctors declared him brain dead.

The construction worker’s wife, Gunji Sravani, made the heartfelt decision to donate his kidneys (2), liver (1), heart (1), lungs (1) and corneas (2), taking the total number of donated organs to seven and helping seven patients in need.

Jeevandan Telangana extended its gratitude to the family of Gunji Srinu for their noble decision, which helped save seven lives.
