BRAOU offers free degree programmes for transgenders in Telangana

Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University has launched a landmark initiative offering free graduation programmes to all transgender individuals in Telangana. As the first university in the state to introduce such a measure, BRAOU reinforces its commitment to 'education for all' and social justice.

Hyderabad: Dr. BR Ambedkar Open University (BRAOU) has announced free graduation programmes for all transgender individuals across Telangana.

Any transgender individual with 10+2 (Intermediate or equivalent) can join BRAOU’s graduation courses by paying only a one-time registration fee of Rs. 500. All tuition fees will be completely waived, the BRAOU said.

The University will also provide free course material, access to online resources and support through study centers across Telangana

BRAOU has always been committed to “Education for All”, offering free education to marginalised groups including prison inmates and army families, the University said.

With this initiative, BRAOU has become the first university in the State to extend free higher education to transgender individuals, it added.
