Brief spell of rain lashes several parts of Hyderabad on Tuesday

The spells were brief, but the rains did force the mercury down by a few notches in several areas

Hyderabad: On a sultry mid-summer Tuesday afternoon, brief spell of rains lashed several parts of the city and outskirts.

The weather which was hot and humid since morning changed dramatically for a brief respite when clouds started gathering in the skies around 2 pm. Soon, spells of rains started visiting different parts of the city and the suburbs, while some areas also reported hail.

The spells were brief, but the rains did force the mercury down by a few notches in several areas. However, in some parts of the city, it was a strange weather with sun beating down harshly even as it rained around 3 pm. The phenomenon lasted for sometime before the rains ceased and bright sunshine returned.

Apart from Hyderabad, isolated rains were also recorded in the districts of Rangareddy, Medchal Malkajgiri, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool and Vikarabad. The Indian Meteorological Department-Hyderabad had forecast moderate rain and moderate thunderstorms with surface winds in isolated places in the city and some districts.
