Hyderabad: The BRS has accused the Congress government of exploiting farmers through arbitrary alignment changes to the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and Greenfield highway projects. The party leaders said farmers were being harassed, denied fair compensation and displaced to facilitate land deals. The party called for a united struggle by farmers and vowed to intensify pressure on the State government.
Victims from Kalwakurthy and nearby constituencies met former Minister V Srinivas Goud, former MLAs Jaipal Yadav and Marri Janardhan Reddy at Telangana Bhavan in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Goud said the BRS would adopt all means to mobilise farmers and launch a coordinated movement against the government’s tactics. He warned that the party would take the fight to the Parliament, the Assembly, and the streets if needed.
“Farmers should pass resolutions at the village level and consider coordinated boycotts of local polls to force remedial action,” he said.
Urging unity among affected farmers, Jaipal Yadav stressed that BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao, working president KT Rama Rao and senior leader T Harish Rao would stand with the farmers’ agitation to ensure a scientific alignment and fair compensation for all RRR and Greenfield highway victims.
Marri Janardhan Reddy stated that alignments finalised under the BRS regime were being changed by the Congress government for commissions. He accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of acting like a realtor to gain politically and financially. He said around 1,700 farmers in Kalwakurthy had already been displaced or faced displacement.
