BRS brands Revanth Reddy’s Global Summit visionless
BRS spokesperson Krishank Manne accused the Congress government of spending Rs.150 crore on a “hollow” summit while ignoring Telangana’s real achievements and misusing Pharma City lands. He questioned investment claims, criticised foreign tours and alleged scams involving newly formed firms signing major MoUs
Hyderabad: Coming down heavily on the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government and branding it “visionless” and “riddled with scams”, BRS leader and spokesperson Krishank Manne on Thursday alleged that it had spent over Rs.150 crore on a “hollow” summit powered by ChatGPT-generated slides, while ignoring Telangana’s real achievements and misusing farmers’ lands under the Pharma City project.
Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan, he said the Summit failed to showcase infrastructure and engineering landmarks from the previous KCR-led government, such as T-Hub, the Dr BR Ambedkar statue, the Secretariat and the Cable Bridge. Instead, the administration relied on AI-driven visual effects, he said. He attributed this to the Revanth government “not having built anything substantial”, adding that this showed a lack of vision among those in power.
He urged the Congress to take note of praise from eminent individuals for Telangana’s development under former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. He cited former RBI Governor Duvvuri Subba Rao and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, who publicly appreciated the State’s progress under the BRS. “This should be an eye-opener for Congress, which has always spread lies against Telangana and K Chandrashekhar Rao,” Krishank said.
He recalled that when the High Court questioned the Congress government about its announcement to scrap the Pharma City project, leaders claimed they would introduce industrial clusters instead. However, he alleged that no development had taken place and farmers’ lands had not been returned. “These lands are being misused for real estate schemes by the Congress party,” he said. Adding to the confusion, new initiatives such as the Vantara Zoo, HILTP development and industrial parks were being announced on the same Pharma City lands, which he said was deterring investors.
He stated that companies like Sigachi and Virupaksha had shifted operations to Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh during the ongoing summit. Questioning the need for such extravagant global summits, Krishank mocked the announcements of investments from companies allegedly owned by Congress MLAs and their family members. “What’s the need for such expensive events? This could have been done in Gandhi Bhavan itself,” he quipped.
He also raised doubts about the outcomes of other high-profile events, asking, “What investments did Miss World bring?” Referring to the Rs.100 crore spent earlier this year on Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Summit, he demanded clarity on any tangible benefits, including investments secured. He also sought transparency on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s international travel, seeking a white paper on his two visits to Davos, two to the United States and trips to Korea, Japan and Singapore.
“How many companies actually invested, and how many jobs were created as a result?” he asked, stressing the need for accountability.
A book titled 2 Years of Contracts, Commissions and Congress, authored by Krishank, was also released. It details alleged scams involving companies awarded contracts and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) under the Revanth Reddy administration.
According to him, many of these firms have weak financials, with some having been established only months ago with minimal capital yet announcing investments running into thousands of crores. “This raises suspicions that they are shell companies,” he alleged, urging a thorough investigation.
