Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) came down heavily on the Congress government for its politically instigated acts against BRS working president KT Rama Rao and charged that it was trying to suppress the opposition’s voice and frame false cases.
Citing former Kodangal MLA Patnam Narender Reddy’s case, the BRS leaders said in the guise of questioning, attempts were being made to create false evidence and record fake statements.
The case booked by ACB against the BRS working president in the Formula-E race was a false one. When it summoned Rama Rao for questioning, as a law-abiding citizen, he appeared before the officials but what was the reason behind not permitting his lawyer, they asked while speaking to media persons on Monday.
“It is KT Rama Rao’s right to insist on questioning in the presence of his lawyer. How can police deny him his right,” former Minister G Jagadish Reddy asked.
The BRS questioned the Congress government as to why it was not prepared to conduct a discussion on the Formula-E race in the Assembly.
“Is the Chief Minister prepared to hold a discussion on the Formula-E race at his residence in Jubilee Hills? If not, an open debate should be conducted in the presence of the media over the matter,” Jagadish Reddy demanded.
Former Minister S Niranjan Reddy said the Congress government was indulging in political vengeance. Probe agencies were being misused to frame false cases against BRS leaders, he said.
He reminded that in connection with the Formula-E race, the High Court had reserved its orders. Yet, the police were not abiding by the court orders. Probe agencies should conduct their investigation transparently and without any bias, he demanded.
“Officers should not get influenced by the gifts, positions and others offered indirectly by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy,” Niranjan Reddy said.
BRS leaders, including MLC Satyavathi Rathod, MLA KP Vivekanand, former MLAs G Balraj and Ala Venkateshwara Reddy charged that the Congress government was deliberately trying to create a controversy over the agreements signed with an international company for conducting the Formula-E race.
