Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan lashed out at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, alleging a complete collapse of law and order in Hyderabad following a midnight decoy operation involving Malkajgiri Police Commissioner B Sumathi where over 40 miscreants were taken into custody on charges of harassment.
In a statement, Sravan called the operation a slap on the face of the Chief Minister for complete failure of law and order. He said if a senior IPS officer could be surrounded and harassed by miscreants in a busy area, it indicated erosion of public safety, particularly for women.
“If even a Police Commissioner lacks protection, what happens to ordinary women?” he questioned, terming the situation a “Rowdy Raj.”
Citing NCRB data, he said Telangana now topped Southern States in atrocities against women, with a six per cent rise in crimes against women in Hyderabad and a nine per cent rise across the State.
Sravan also accused the government of misusing the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), questioning whether it was being used for public safety or political surveillance.
“Despite advanced systems, such incidents are going unnoticed, proving there is neither command nor control,” he remarked.
He alleged excessive political interference in policing, with law enforcement being diverted to target opposition leaders through false cases and VVIP duties, while weakening routine policing, patrolling and SHE Teams. He urged the Chief Minister to prioritise public safety over politics.
