Hyderabad: BRS leader Manne Krishank on Sunday filed a petition with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) against the State government and Telangana Mineral Development Corporation (TMDC) for issuing an official order to extend sand loading beyond restricted time in Telangana. He urged the Tribunal to cancel the order which violates Standard Environmental Guidelines of the Union government, and adhere to the existing sand loading timings of 6 am to 6 pm.

The TMDC had recently issued orders extending the timings for loading sand into vehicles at the stockyard from 6 pm to 9 pm, allowing an additional three hours of sand mining and loading. The government justified the decision stating that it was meant to make more sand available to the people. The orders which were issued on Saturday came into force with immediate effect.
