Hyderabad: Former BRS MLA Methuku Anand charged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy with dismantling democratic governance in Telangana, and imposing his family rule in Vikarabad district.
He said the Chief Minister’s “seventh guarantee” of democracy turned out to be a farce, with democracy being systematically killed by the latter’s family rule.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Anand questioned the VIP treatment extended to Revanth Reddy’s brother Tirupati Reddy in violation of protocol in Vikarabad district.
He questioned officials including the district collector, extending privileges to Tirupati Reddy, despite the latter not being an elected representative or not holding any official position in the government.
“In what capacity is Tirupati Reddy performing Bhumi Puja for government buildings, distributing welfare scheme cheques and attending official programmes?” he asked, adding that these actions undermined governance norms.
The former MLA also criticised Tirupati Reddy for threatening farmers during land acquisitions in Lagacherla, and abetting Kondareddypalle former Sarpanch Sai Reddy to commit suicide. He questioned why no FIR had been filed against him while others faced action for lesser violations.
“Revanth Reddy accused former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of encouraging family rule, but has now turned the State into a playground for his kin,” he said.
