Hyderabad: Former BRS leader and Station Ghanpur MLA Kadiyam Srihari and his daughter Kavya officially joined the Congress on Sunday, two days after quitting the BRS. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and AICC in-charge Deepa Das Munshi welcomed them into the Congress fold with the party scarf.
Srihari was elected to the Assembly from Station Ghanpur constituency in the recent elections. His daughter Kavya was declared BRS candidate for Warangal Lok Sabha seat. However, she withdrew her candidature on March 28, citing allegations against the party and alleging lack of cooperation from the party leaders for her campaign.
The next day, the Congress invited Srihari and Kavya to join the party. Later, Srihari held a meeting with his followers and announced his decision to leave the BRS to join the ruling Congress. Speculations are rife that the Congress will field either Srihari or Kavya from Warangal parliamentary constituency. A decision in this regard is expected in a couple of days.
