Hyderabad: BRS leader Kyama Mallesh accused Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of betraying Telangana’s interests and neglecting the Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Mallesh said former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao prioritised irrigation during his 10-year tenure and completed numerous irrigation projects to irrigate around 6.5 lakh acres. He said Chandrashekhar Rao spent around Rs 27,000 crore and completed nearly 90 per cent of the Palamuru-Rangareddy project, to undo decades of discrimination of the region in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.

“But Revanth Reddy, who claims to be the son of Palamuru, failed people of his own district. The Congress government failed to complete the remaining 10 per cent even after two years,” he said.

Mallesh found fault with the Chief Minister’s inappropriate remarks against Chandrashekhar Rao, calling them vulgar and unbecoming of a constitutional post. He warned that BRS workers would not remain silent if Chandrashekhar Rao was insulted. He said the Congress, which suffered a severe defeat in recent panchayat polls due to public anger, was afraid to hold MPTC and ZPTC elections. He said the BRS would continue to corner the government until all election promises are implemented.
