Adilabad: BRS State general secretary Dr RS Praveen Kumar alleged that farmers were struggling to purchase urea due to the greed of the Congress. He expressed solidarity with farmers protesting for adequate supply of urea at Kagaznagar on Monday.
Addressing a gathering, Praveen Kumar accused the Congress of failing to prevent hardships to farmers caused by shortages across the State. He criticised the government for not ensuring availability of urea despite issuing tokens in July and August, and charged that the party was misleading the public by claiming that stocks had already been dispatched.
He questioned why farmers would be agitating on the streets if supplies were genuinely made. He further alleged that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy was offering favours to senior party leaders by selling urea in the black market for Rs 700 per bag. He demanded to know from both the Congress and the BJP how long they intended to continue deceiving farmers.
Praveen Kumar also expressed regret that farmers were not provided with basic facilities at cooperative societies selling urea. Recalling that no such problems occurred during the tenure of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, he said farmers would be content if Rao returned to power.
He urged officials to ensure that the urea available at societies was sold properly and advised farmers to wait patiently for their turn to purchase it.
