Hyderabad: Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for misleading voters with false claims on development, BRS leaders Manne Krishank, Gajjela Nagesh and Cantonment incharge of the party, Nivedita, on Saturday said the Congress government’s track record is one of “deception and neglect”.
Addressing a news conference at Telangana Bhavan, they said the Chief Minister had promised the moon to the voters in the cantonment by-elections, but the post-election scenario was disappointing with none of the promises being implemented. The fate of the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency would in no way be different, if the Congress was allowed to go scot-free.
“Revanth Reddy thinks people will vote for Congress in Jubilee Hills, but the truth about his Cantonment story has reached every doorstep,’ they said, ridiculing the Chief Minister’s claim that over Rs 4,000 crore was spent for Cantonment development.
“Where did that money go? Revanth Reddy is stuffing cauliflower in the ears of Jubilee Hills residents, but there are not many takers for his narratives,” they said, highlighting the multiple unfulfilled promises under the Congress regime.
Nagesh pointed to the Centre’s approval of an elevated corridor for Cantonment as a key achievement facilitated during the previous BRS tenure under K. Chandrashekhar Rao. Revanth Reddy has no right to claim credit for it, they said, adding that development in Cantonment happened through SRDP initiatives, not Congress programmes.
“While the Cantonment MLA demands funds, Revanth Reddy is busy with Salman Khan,” Krishank quipped, stating that the Chief Minister was busy with high-profile celebrity interactions. They demanded a public debate.
“We’re ready for a discussion in Jubilee Hills. Revanth Reddy should send his Cantonment MLA if he dares,” he said, also mocking the absence of the 6,000 promised Indiramma houses in Cantonment and questioning the fate of the promised sports complex project.
On healthcare, the BRS leaders highlighted Chandrashekhar Rao’s contribution of the 1,000-bed hospital in Cantonment, with its construction now completed by over 80 per cent.
Dismissing Congress claims of better welfare schemes, the BRS leaders also raised alarms over digital health cards, urging Revanth Reddy to clarify discrepancies. They also condemned the Congress for slander and mudslinging against BRS candidate Maganti Sunitha.
Krishank pointed out that Chandrashekhar Rao had given a ticket to Solipeta Ramalingareddy’s widow in Dubbak out of respect, also alleging that the Congress lured a BJP candidate in Cantonment and sidelined the party loyalists.
