Hyderabad: The BRS Legal Cell demanded the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the murder of senior advocate Khaja Moizuddin. They sought a speedy trial of the accused through a fast-track court and stringent punishment.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, senior advocate Mukheed alleged that attacks on lawyers were increasing in the State. He termed Moizuddin’s killing a result of police failure to provide adequate security despite repeated threats to his life. He said the incident had created fear among aspiring legal professionals and demanded comprehensive protection measures for advocates, including dedicated counselling rooms at police stations.
BRS Legal Cell members C Kalyan Rao and Lalitha Reddy said law and order had deteriorated in Telangana and cited recent attacks on advocates and other high-profile murders. They said Moizuddin had been actively working to protect Waqf lands and urged the government to take the case seriously.
They also demanded immediate police protection for Moizuddin’s family and his son Farhan. They asserted that attacks on lawyers amounted to attacks on the judicial system and vowed full support to Moizuddin’s family.
