Hyderabad: BRS members on Friday staged a protest in the Legislative Council demanding withdrawal of cases registered against farmers of Lagacherla in the alleged attack on Vikarabad district Collector and other officials on November 11.

The protest by the BRS members forced council chairman Gutha Sukender Reddy to adjourn the house within 15 minutes after commencement of the session.

The BRS members wore black ribbons in protest against registration of cases against the farmers. They displayed placards and shouted slogans demanding withdrawal of cases against farmers. The members went to the well of the House and demanded the government to immediately withdraw the cases.

The BRS members alleged that the Congress government was targeting BRS as they were questioning about the government’s corruption. Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu took strong objections to BRS members displaying placards and raising slogans in the house.

“This is against the rules of the House. BRS members have not listed the Lagacherla farmers issue in Business Advisory Committee agenda. You cannot demand discussion on the issue in house as you like it,” he said. However, the BRS members continued their protest forcing the chairman to adjourn the House for 15 minutes.
