Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) lodged a complaint with Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh Reddy over an alleged attack by Congress workers on BRS cadre at Medchal on Saturday, demanding stern action against Congress leader Vajresh Yadav.
According to the complaint, around 100 Congress workers attacked BRS members during a party campaign programme at Medchal. Former Minister Ch Malla Reddy said BRS workers had assembled at the party office when Congress workers suddenly arrived at the spot and created a nuisance.
He said the Congress workers began playing loud music from their campaign vehicle. When questioned about causing disturbance by blaring music, they allegedly picked up a fight with BRS leaders.
“Congress district president Vajresh Yadav, along with his followers, physically assaulted BRS workers. Even as eggs were hurled at the BRS workers in the presence of the ACP and CI, the police merely watched and did not intervene,” Malla Reddy alleged.
But for the presence of their gunmen, Vajresh Yadav’s followers would have launched a serious attack, he added.
Condemning the incident, BRS Medchal district president Shambipur Raju, former Minister Malla Reddy, MLA KP Vivekanand, MLC D Sravan Kumar and Ragidi Lakshma Reddy submitted a petition to Cyberabad Police Commissioner M Ramesh Reddy, demanding strict action against Vajresh Yadav.
