Hyderabad: The BRS members launched a coordinated attack on the Congress government over the State budget in the Assembly, alleging lack of clarity in welfare schemes, neglect of tribal communities and failure to fulfil promises made to farmers and youth.

During the discussion on the budget demands in the Assembly on Wednesday, Dubbaka MLA Kotha Prabhakar Reddy said the budget lacked purity, clarity and surety, accusing the government of abandoning farmers after coming to power on their votes.

He said Rythu Bandhu payments had stopped, loan waiver was incomplete and fertilisers were in short supply, forcing farmers and even women to stand in queues for urea.

He also questioned the delay in release of Rythu Bharosa assistance and non-payment of the promised bonus on paddy, while alleging that tenant farmers were ignored in the budget.

Boath MLA Anil Jadhav accused the government of targeting tribal lands for industrial projects, asking why only assigned lands belonging to tribals were being acquired. He said allocations for SC and ST welfare had been drastically cut, while schemes such as Dalit Bandhu had been virtually stopped. He also demanded new ITDAs, more schools in tribal areas and immediate clearance of pending Tribal Welfare bills.

Huzurabad MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy criticised the government for ignoring sportspersons and failing to deliver on job promises made to youth. He questioned the delay in filling vacancies and reminded the House of the Congress pledge to provide two lakh jobs or unemployment allowance. He said the budget was silent on employment generation and warned that the youth were growing restless.
